Warm Organic Modern

Project Location: St. Petersburg, Florida

Service Provided: Residential Interior Design

Scope of Work: Full Redesign of [Primary] Bathroom

Design Style: Warm Organic Modern

Notable Inspiration: Our client’s love of mid-century modern design

What made the finished design unique: The original layout of the bathroom only allowed for single occupancy. This inefficient design meant that a second person could only enter the space if the first was already in the shower. We remedied this problem by creating a layout that optimized the space and gave our clients the spa-like retreat they longed for.

We bet you’d never guess: HLM Designs actually sourced a different vanity. The selection you see here was made by the client. They loved this pair of carved pine vanities because of the chevron detail and how the overall design leant itself to their mid century aesthetic. We talked through their options, considered their budget, and ultimately went with the selection that would bring them joy each time they entered the space.

Our favorite part: Our clients have a great sense of design and so they came into the project with a few ideas of their own. They requested that we incorporate a forest green color and antique gold finishes and they were set on having travertine floors. While beautiful, travertine is an investment and one that requires routine maintenance and diligent upkeep. We used our extensive product knowledge to offer an even better alternative — the perfect penny tile with a travertine feel, but a more modern aesthetic. In addition to being more durable, the penny tile offers the benefit of a broader appeal; should our client decide to sell their home, the bathroom can be a selling point rather than a sticking point. We love when we can use our expertise to steer a client towards a selection that enhances their design while honoring their taste and protecting their investment.

Our client’s reaction: Given that this is their primary bathroom, our client decided to travel during the renovation. Upon their return they were blown away! They continue to receive compliments from guests every time they entertain.
