After eight years in their home, this young family was ready to move beyond the original dark, builder-grade finishes and create an environment that felt distinctly their own.
The new design needed to support the energy and complexity of daily family life while incorporating meaningful accessibility considerations for wheelchair use and significant visual impairments. Every decision was made to help the home work naturally, comfortably, and beautifully for the people living within it.

The Heart of the Home
Earthy Materials and One Remarkable Copper Detail
A soothing, full-home color treatment creates a continuous visual foundation across walls, trim, doors, crown moulding, and ceilings. In the kitchen, organic zellige tile introduces depth and movement while remaining connected to the home’s nature-inspired palette.
Above the range, a one-of-a-kind copper hood brings warmth and artistry to the room. Its custom finish was restored by a local artisan using specialized mineral and metal techniques, creating a living surface that will continue to develop character over time.

An abstract watercolor painting of a horse became the creative compass for the home, guiding its earthy colors, natural influences, emotional tone, and layered material selections.

A continuous neutral treatment across walls, trim, doors, mouldings, and ceilings allows the eye to move calmly through the home while highlighting its architecture.

Wallpaper, decorative finishes, textured surfaces, and tile give each room its own identity while maintaining a harmonious visual language throughout the entire residence.

Custom Details Scaled to the Architecture
A custom built-in rises to meet the home’s dramatic 18-foot ceilings, while textured wallpaper adds depth within the shelving. The hand-finished limewash fireplace creates an organic focal point that feels warm, tactile, and connected to the home’s nature-inspired story.
