Client Context & Vision: This is a repeat commercial client and we are honored by their continued trust in our vision and process. We were given full creative liberty to deliver the elevated, unique space that they desired. As a pastor and community leader, our client understands that the restrooms are a critical part of the guest experience—on par with the building’s entry, which we also designed (see their Stately Traditional Foyer). While it may not be the sole reason a guest returns or not, those two areas contribute more than some might realize to the decision.
Notable Inspiration: Boutique hotel bathrooms with Parisian and European apartment-style references.
What Made the Finished Design Unique: Our client had originally been keen on using blue as the primary color; since we’ve worked together in the past and were familiar with their aesthetic, they gave us full creative license to present our vision. We created a sophisticated palette anchored by Benjamin Moore’s Classic Burgundy to create the elevated and intimate vibe you see here. Individually enclosed water closets—each featuring its own wallpaper pattern— give every stall a distinct personality, while the fan-patterned wallpaper on the main vanity wall introduces softness and allows the deep red tones to visually breathe. We wrapped the room in deep red, Moroccan-inspired tile and finished the space with millwork trim for a tailored, elevated look. Repeated curves—wallpaper motifs, vanity shapes, mirror profiles, fluted sconces, and a round crystal chandelier—bring strong visual continuity and give the space the elegant feel our client desired.
Design Challenges & Constraints: The restroom has no natural light, requiring careful color balance and intentional lighting placement to ensure the deep red tones remain flattering and inviting. Red can be harsh in vanity areas, so lighter wall and ceiling zones, strategic mirror placement, and layered lighting were essential to soften the effect.
We Bet You’d Never Guess: This space is a church restroom.
Our Favorite Part: The chandelier and wall sconces—they crown the space and reinforce its boutique, hospitality-driven feel.
Our Client’s Reaction: Jaws dropped! The restroom has become a point of pride and conversation—especially for the pastor himself.
